We offer private riding lessons. This insures each student personal attention and the ability to progress at their own speed. Sometimes, when we feel the students are ready, we may give a group lesson to allow the students to learn how to guide around obstacles (the other horses). Grooming and the care of the horse and its equipment are also taught. Whether learning how to properly tack a horse or simply to groom one, students are taught safety for both horse and rider. Young students benefit from the experience of caring for the horse by learning responsibility and compassion for another living being. It is well known that riding helps increase mental focus, flexibility and quick decision- making. Additionally, riding is a great and fun way to promote physical fitness of which our adult riders can happily attest! With horseback riding, the challenge of achieving proper form while posting (the up and down movement in and out of the saddle relative to the horse's stride at the trot) can provide a thorough cardio work-out. We strive to provide a safe, fun-filled and challenging equestrian experience that is suited to the student's goals-whether they be purely for pleasure or to ensure success in the show ring. Lessons: Tuesday - Sunday afternoon and evenings, call to set up your appointment. We recommend each student ride at least once per week to insure the students muscles develop properly; this will allow each student to progress at a rate that will make the learning experience full of fun and accomplishment. The more lessons that are taken per week, the faster the student will progress. Attire: Every student must wear long pants, preferably jeans and a good sturdy shoe with rubber soles, preferably a boot with a small heel. It is recommended if the student decides to continue riding, you purchase riding pants called Kentucky Jodhpurs (not breeches); this will prevent the seams on your jeans from rubbing and making sores. If you decide to buy Kentucky Jodhpurs, please ask us first, we have some resources where you can purchase quality, affordable Jods. It is also recommended that you purchase riding boots, as well. Price: Each private riding lesson is $35 Lesson Cancellation: We request that if you are unable to make your lesson appointment, you call us to cancel 12 hours in advance. Lessons not canceled 12 hours in advance may be subject to a cancellation fee.
